At Nexwhit, we love the German language, partly because its compound words can be quite fun for learners.
While these (very) long words can be scary at first glance, they are actually made up of words which precisely describe the concept that is referred to, and we find this fascinating 😍 .
A few examples:
🍰 Dessert > die Nachspeise (lit. after+meal)
🏘 Suburb > die Vorstadt (lit. before+city)
🏭 Pollution > die Umweltverschmutzung (lit. environment+soiling)
